To double the online assortment, Walmart.ca has recently launched their online marketplace in Canada, debuting third-party sellers on the company’s official website. This collaboration with third-party sellers will allow Walmart to offer more products for purchase, thereby helping the company to compete with other retail rival companies such as Amazon.ca and BestBuy.ca.
Walmart mentioned that the company curated 27 third-party sellers at the time of launch and they have extended some products in a variety of categories including baby, home, toys, apparel, and sports. The company also mentioned that their partners in U.S. marketplace can easily and quickly launch the Walmart.ca marketplace.
In a press release Rick Neuman, executive vice president, technology & e-commerce, Walmart Canada said that “Our goal is simple – to make shopping easier and more convenient for our customers.” “The expansion through the Walmart.ca marketplace allows us to rapidly grow our product assortment through sellers we’ve chosen specifically to address the needs of our customers.”
Walmart also made a shift in their marketing strategy by launching Walmart iOS app last July. Now interested shoppers can easily shop for goodies with the company’s updated iPhone app on their smartphones. As per recent stats, Walmart.ca currently receives close to 8 million unique visitors on monthly basis.
Last year another retail company i.e. BestBuy launched their marketplace in Canada too.
