TRUE CALLER ADDS NEW FEATURES INCLUDING BACKUP AND RESTORE OPTIONS AND MORE
The True caller has proved to be a nifty application to use for identifying unknown phone numbers. The app is available on Android, iOS and Windows Mobile. With over 100 million downloads on Android, it’s easy to say that many people agree with us.
The company behind the app has always been improving it over the years. It has now become more than a number identifier. It has call blocking functionality as well as social media integration to help keep your phone book up to date. It allows you to add pictures and birthdays to your phonebook.
New Features to be Added in True Caller
With all that done, the True Software Scandinavia AB (the company behind the app) has announced some new additions/features that many users will be happy with. Backup for Android is a new feature that allows users to backup and restores a whole host of things.
You’ll now be able to restore contacts, call history, settings and block list. All this will be done in your Google Drive account. This feature was added to help users, who might have lost their phones, reset their phones, change SIM cards or smartphone.
It’s also meant for those who have reinstalled the app. It gives you a chance not to lose the information in the app. Contacts that were blacklisted, saved or updated will stay intact as long as a backup was done.
True caller released a statement saying that “The new features will be available in the next few days. With just a click of a button, a True caller will back up all your contacts, call history, call logs, block list, and settings to a file that will be stored on your Google Drive”.
You might be wondering what about users that don’t have a Google Drive account? Well, you’ll be prompted to get one. Only Users with a Google Drive account will be able to take advantage of the new features. It’s believed that all these features will be available to you in the next update.
For now, the integration is with Google Drive, but more backup storage options are going to be added in the future. You’ll need to setup the backup initially after you update the app. In addition, you can also adjust the frequency of the backup. You can set the app to backup data every day, week or month. You could also choose for the app to never backup (not recommended). You’ll also be able to restore your data when you need it.
Other Useful Features
All you need to do is to give true caller access to your Google Drive and the last saved data will be restored. Another useful feature that many users will appreciate is True caller contacts. This feature saves every number that you call, send SMS to or make transactions with. There is no need to explain why you’ll love this. You’ll be able to pull numbers back for as far a duration as a month. No more losing that important number that you didn’t save. All numbers will be accessible.
You’ll also be able to search for contacts that have not been saved, but you previously communicated with. There are also some other new features that were released such as the simple copy OTP and flash message improvement.
The former was just an improvement on the flash messaging design (it’s now more polished). The latter added a shortcut that allowed users a one-tap way to easily copy OTP directly form the notification area.
True caller is a great app and does pretty well as a caller ID service. It’s good to see that the company isn’t laid back despite their dominance. More features have been added over the years making it even more useful.
The backup and restore options are definitely going to be appreciated by the user as it makes changing SIMs or phones a lot easier. On top of that, True caller contacts will also be appreciated. We can’t explain how many times we lose contacts (unsaved) that we were communicating with. All in all, it’s a great batch of updates that’ll be loved.
