Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL were the first devices designed by Google. This year will be the Google Pixel 2 and Google Pixel 2 XL and although we have no official details of the new phones.
How many phones will Google launch?
It was expected that with the new generation of Pixel, Google comes with three devices: Walleye, Muskie and Taimen. The latter was expected to be larger than Pixel XL and possibly tablet format. However, Google has changed its mind and only two phones will arrive, canceling the smallest of them (Muskie) and launching only Walleye and Taimen.
Earlier rumors claimed that Google had partnered with HTC for the manufacturing of phones but new rumors say Google is expected to partner with LG. However the company has not confirmed anything and no details are official.
High-end specs for Google Pixel 2
A few features of Google Pixel 2 have been leaked recently, which give us some clues about its possible data sheet:
– OLED screen (model of 5 inches and another of between 5.5 and 6 inches).
– Snapdragon 835 8-core processor up to 2.4 GHz.
– 4 GB of RAM.
– 128 GB of storage (maybe with other options).
– Back 12 megapixel camera and 7 megapixel front.
– Android O as operating system.
It is clear that we cannot rely entirely on these specifications, but a very interesting detail is that a resolution of 2,560 x 1,312 pixels is indicated, which would mean that the Google Pixel 2 would join the fashion of the ultra panoramic displays. It would opt for a ratio of 17.5: 9 versus the usual 16: 9, but different to that used by the LG G6 (18: 9) and Samsung Galaxy S8 (18.5: 9).
Google Pixel 2 XL, specifications
The main difference between the Google Pixel 2 and the Google Pixel 2 XL will be your screen. In the case of the large model it is expected to come with a QHD screen of 5.99 inches. Like the small model, the phone would have an 835 Snapdragon processor and would work with 4GB of RAM. It would also be water and dust resistant and expected to come with 128GB of storage in its basic version and a version with more storage.
Both will come running with Android O, being the first phones to have the new version of the operating system. The phones are expected to arrive in the fall although it is not officially known what the launch date will be. However, previous mobiles were presented during the month of October and launched during the same month so there are still some months for us to know these devices.
