Telus and Rogers released security updates and bug fixes for Android Smartphones


The slow software update process and software fragmentation has been continuously creating problems for many of the Android users. To safeguard Android users from such issues, Rogers and Telus have recently made an announcement that certain amount of Android devices will receive security updates as well as solution for other bug fixes.

Users of Telus and Rogers Blackberry Priv will get security related updates on 12th June, 2017. This new update will mainly affect users running Android 6.0 on their smartphones. However users with Android 7.0 or 7.1 will not be affected much with the update.

On June 15th, 2017 security updates and support fixes will be received by both Rogers and Telus Moto Z devices. The same updates for Telus and Rogers Moto Z play devices will be available by June 19th, 2017.

Other smartphone users such as those making use of Samsung Galaxy A5 can expect support fixes and security updates by this month. Also by June 19th, 2017 the security update and bug fixes will reach Samsung most sold smartphone i.e. Samsung Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Edge. However the new updates will not affect Rogers’s subscribers but Telus devices users will notice some changes.

Following the company’s reports about the new updates, none of the company has made any announcement to release the latest version of Android i.e. Nougat 7.1 to any of the above devices. But most of the Android devices will receive the new security updates and bug fixes soon.

Recent study by Google also revealed that only 10 percent of Android devices are running variant of 7.0 or Nougat 7.1. The recent Android release was Android 7.1.2 which owners of Nexus and Pixel smartphone received on May 1st 2017.
