The news of Samsung and Harman jointly working on a project to build an AI speaker is now getting some boost. The new Samsung Electronics affiliation is crucial in order to launch an unbeatable artificial intelligence device in 2018. Chiefs of both tech giants firms were seen holding a closed-door meeting at the IFA 2017 Berlin.
Yoon Boo-Keun, CEO and president of the consumer electronics business at Samsung Electronics on Friday, held a confidential closed-door meeting with Harman CEO Paliwal. The meeting was set at a private venue by Harman exclusively for distributors and business partners.
Dinesh Paliwal, CEO of Harman International, said: “A significant level of joint research and development of the device is underway”. “The Samsung speaker will have a better AI platform than Google Assistant and Amazon’s Alexa.”
Paliwal also mentioned that Samsung AI speaker would be a complete platform that will support all kinds of mobile devices and home appliances.
As the company is planning to make AI speaker work in different languages (other than Korean & English), it might need some time and user dedication to prove itself as a feasible service and to stand out against its rivals such as Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
