Returning to its roots in Toronto, Ross Intelligence which is an IBM Watson – powered platform is all set to open an R&D headquarters in Toronto. The platform mainly focuses on lawyers and helps them in finding relevant cases by doing search in natural language.
The new office is scheduled to open on 5th June 2017 and it will have Mayor John Tory in attendance. Also the new center will be called as the Ross North.
As discussed above the Ross platforms has something to offer for all the lawyers. Its platform allows lawyers to ask questions in simple English language and then it reads the entire body of law and after this provide revert of the questions from all knowledge which is acquired from case law, legislation, and other secondary sources. The major goal behind formation of “Ross Intelligence” is to help all the lawyers out there to manage large bodies of information, thereby allowing them to help their client in solving their legal issues effectively and efficiently.
Jimoh Ovbiagele, the company CTO revealed – “We want to work with the best and the brightest”. He also added that “Canada and Toronto is the best place to do that. We look forward to strengthening our partnership with U of T”.
Ross Intelligence was founded by University of Toronto students in 2014 and currently it is based in San Francisco. The company possesses clients like Dentons, Simon Thatcher and Baker & Hostetler which is a firm that has 940 lawyers across US.
The reason that most of the US based start-ups companies are settling up in Canada is because they are attracted by robust AI talent. One of the emerging transportation network company i.e. UBER has recently opened their own research club in Canada.
