Coming Soon To Gmail Web: Material Design UI and New Features

Google has some new features in the Gmail Web version that are expected to be released in the coming months. Among other things, Smart-Reply and a Snooze button are to move in.

Web version of Gmail will soon have new features

Both the apps and the web version of Gmail are provided with new features at irregular intervals – most recently, the Gmail applications for iOS and Android have been given a new feature that automatically links contact data such as phone numbers and addresses in the app In order to be able to use them faster. Next is probably the web version to be updated.

In a video from Google’s cloud-next-2017 conference hosted in May this year, tech bloggers noticed a presentation slide with information on upcoming Gmail features for the web. The video has now been deleted by Google, which usually means that the features shown weren’t supposed to be.

What’s new in the update?

Google will integrate the “smart reply”, “smart groupings” and a snooze button in the web version of Gmail in the coming months.

Gmail for the web also gets Material Design UI

The smart Reply feature has been available for Android and iOS devices for several months, but only in English and Spanish. With the feature, it is possible to send ready-made and appropriate mail responses and thus save on typing.

With “Smart-Groupings”, a grouping function for thematically related mails is inserted, which in almost identical form already exists in Inbox. With the snooze button, you can schedule mails to resubmit. According to a screenshot, you can obviously choose either a specific time frame or a place.
