Apple iOS 11.2 To Feature Faster Wireless Charging For iPhone 8, 8 Plus And iPhone X
It seems that Apple is all set to enable faster wireless charging feature on the various iPhone models including iPhone X, iPhone 8, and iPhone 8 Plus with the introduction of iOS 11.2. Based on all the buzz with the launch of iOS 11.2 the wireless charging speed is expected to increase a bit.
Presently, all wireless charging on iPhone runs with the maximum speed of 5 watts. But now, the wireless charging speed will increase to 7.5 watts with the Qi charging Mophie Wireless Charging Base and the Belkin BOOST UP Wireless Charging Pad.
According to a report published at MacRumors when charged with ‘Belkin Charger’, the iPhone X took 30 minutes to charge from 46 percent to 66 percent. However, when the same iPhone X was charged using wireless Qi pad it took more than 30 minutes to charge the battery from 40 percent to 60 percent.
This clearly indicates that iOS 11.2 will definitely go to accelerate the wireless charging speed. The real speed of charging depends on various factors, but Apple specifically limits the top power output across the board in software.
There is still not any clarity about the accessories Qi charging can have the 5 watts. Apple is recently selling the charging pad and accessories through Belkin and Mophie. The benefits of wireless charging are not confined only to speed but to comfort also as users can easily charge their smartphones.
As of now, Apple users may hold on buying Qi chargers as Apple has decided to release its AirPower mat (pictured above) in 2018 that will help users to charge three devices including Apple Watch, iPhones and Air pods at once.
